Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sunnah fasting and when should I observe it?

Sunnah fasts are those observed by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regularly. These include:

  • Mondays and Thursdays: Weekly recommended fasts
  • White Days: 13th, 14th, and 15th of each Islamic month
  • Day of Arafah: 9th of Dhul Hijjah (for non-pilgrims)
  • Day of Ashura: 10th of Muharram (with 9th or 11th)
  • Six days of Shawwal: After Ramadan (like fasting all year)
How is Qada (make-up) fasting different from regular fasting?

Qada fasts are make-up fasts for missed obligatory fasts, primarily from Ramadan. If you miss a Ramadan fast due to valid reasons (illness, travel, menstruation, etc.), you must make it up later. These should ideally be completed before the next Ramadan.

Important: Qada fasts do not carry the same multiplied reward as Ramadan fasts, but fulfilling this obligation is necessary.

Is my data stored online or shared with anyone?

No. All your fasting data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Your data never leaves your device and is not shared with anyone. This ensures complete privacy.

You can export your data as a JSON or PDF file for backup. If you clear your browser data, your fasting records will be lost unless you’ve exported them first.

How accurate are the Hijri dates displayed?

Hijri dates are calculated using JavaScript’s Internationalization API (Intl.DateTimeFormat). While this provides a good approximation, actual Islamic dates may vary by location based on moon sighting.

For exact Islamic dates for religious purposes (like Ramadan beginning, Eid, etc.), always consult your local Islamic authority or moon sighting committee.

Can I track multiple years of fasting?

Yes! The tracker supports unlimited entries. You can log fasts from any date – past, present, or future. Use the filter options to view specific time periods.

For long-term tracking, we recommend exporting your data annually as a backup. The tracker can handle thousands of records without performance issues.

What’s the benefit of tracking voluntary (nafil) fasts?

Tracking voluntary fasts helps maintain consistency in worship. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if they are small.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

By tracking, you can see your spiritual progress, maintain motivation, and identify patterns in your worship habits.

Export & Backup
